This Week's Best Family Friendly Events

One of the reasons I love living in New York City is the endless opportunities to expose young children to the arts.  There are some wonderful family focused events going on in the art world this weekend.  Friday the New York International Children's Film Festival kicks off and continues through March 27th.  The films are screening at theaters throughout the city and there are still tickets available for many of the shows. The Armory Arts Week continues through the weekend with exhibits and tours taking place at cultural institutions throughout the city.  The Rubin Museum of Art is hosting a Family Day: Himalayan New Year Celebration! on Saturday with art, crafts, food and more and the New Museum First Saturdays for Families features sculptor Lynda Benglis this weekend.

There are some great live performances this weekend including the return of PASTA! A Pop Ups Puppet Musical at the Soho Playhouse, Thomas the Train Live! at Madison Square Garden and Charlotte's Web at Tribeca PAC.

Congratulations to Ashley who won the Disney Live! Mickey's Magic Show tickets from last weeks giveaway!

Mardi Gras is this Tuesday so if you are having a Mardi Gras celebration try the Kings Cake Recipe.

Enjoy!

Sunday, April 3 - Baby Got Bach: Classical Kids at LPR

Bring your children to Bleecker Street for Baby Got Bach: Classical Kids at LPR. Curated by the pianist Orli Shaham, the event features hands-on activities, where kids have a chance to play with musical instruments they’d never even be allowed to touch anywhere else. Then it’s on to the stage to enjoy a listening tour of great live chamber music, featuring Orli and her friends.  Whether it’s your child’s first encounter with live music, or they are veteran concert-goers, they’ll find this program of chamber music captivating. The cozy setting of LPR will give every child and adult a great experience with live music.
