Freckleface Strawberry the Musical

Delightful musical for children and parents too!

Freckleface Strawberry the Musical, now at New World Stages  (340 West 50th St- between 8th and 9th Avenues), is a wonderful adaptation of Julianne Moore's children's book of the same name. The show runs 75 minutes and the music, dancing and fun will will appeal to young kids as well as their adult companions.  We were  invited to see the show on a Thursday evening and had many young children in our group.  Despite the 7PM start they were mesmerized throughout the entire show.  We were amazed that ...

Macaroni Weekend Picks

Plus many other amazing events going on all week!

Congratulations to Bella who won the tickets to see the Lumpy Bumpy Pumpkin Show. Also Macaroni Kid readers, you can still purchase tickets to a Sunday or weekday performance for only $10 per ticket by calling 212-724-0677, the discount code is sbtpumpkin. (Unfortunately we were informed this evening that the 45 Bleeker Street Theatre was closed indefinitely due to a dispute with the landlord.  They are hoping to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.  Check their website for updates and this site will be updated as more information becomes available!)

As I am sure many of you do, I try to squeeze as much as possible into my weekend.  Last weekend started with an early morning family photo session with Lesley from Kensington Blue Photography.  Meeting at 8 AM seemed like a great idea until that morning. My daughter was not in the mood to let anyone near her with a hair brush and the computer was way more appealing than 'handsome boy' clothes to my son. But once we got to the park things could not have gone better (though the hair situation was never resolved!). It was a beautiful day and my shy children suddenly became little models.  Lesley was great with the kids running here and there to get the perfect shot...some posed, but countless candids and actions shots as well. Her mid-western personality put us all at ease.  I can't wait to see the photos!

We also took a trip to the Queens County Farm Museum in Little Neck.  You can pick pumpkins, take a hay ride, try to find your way through the corn maze and visit with the farm animals. This Saturday try the Maze By Moonlight - the maze is open until 9 PM.   The Octoberfest BBQ is also this Saturday at 5 PM.  You can purchase tickets online.  It is amazing that this great outdoor adventure is so close!

Not sure what to do this weekend with the kids?  If you are dog fan try the Javits Center for Meet the Breeds.  Taste new foods at the Grub Street Food Festival at the Hester Street Fair.  Get in the mood for Halloween at the Madison Square Kids Fest.  As always there are too many great options and not enough time.

Finally...if you haven't done so yet, please "like" us on Facebook!
