Macaroni Kid is Nationwide

Find family friendly events throughout NYC and on the road

Whether you are traveling over Thanksgiving or taking the time off to explore the city with the kids consider visiting some of the other Macaroni Kid sites to find some great family friendly events.

Macaroni Kid was founded by two moms in 2008 who realized that parents need one reliable source for finding the best family-friendly activities close to home. It all started with Macaroni Kid in the Hamptons, but there are now Macaroni Kid sites coast-to-coast including an East Side and a West Side one right here in Manhattan. On the National site you can select a state and town to try to find a Macaroni Kid site for your travel destination. There are also links to some of the other wonderful Macaroni Kid National sites including one devoted to food, Macaroni Kid EATS! and a Family Travel newsletter.  Add checking out the local Macaroni Kid site to your to-do list whenever you travel!

When deciding what do do this weekend consider stopping by the Tribeca Barnes & Noble for a special event sponsored by Arts for All or Junior Detective Day at the NY Police Museum. Plan ahead and buy tickets now to see the Harold and The Purple Crayon at TribecaPAC.

A Macaroni Kid favorite destination is City Treehouse in Chelsea. It is a great place to let the kids run around during free play, plus they offer a variety of special events for both parents and kids including a New Moms Support Group by babybites starting on Jan 10th (you must register by Dec 1st). Check out City Treehouse's great deal on Gaggle of Chicks - only $49 for a playdate for 10, available for purchase through Sunday and perfect for a cold winter day! As a bonus for a limited time anyone who signs up at GaggleofChicks.com will be automatically entered to win a $250 credit!

Before you start your holiday shopping read this week's toy reviews about two exciting toys that will educate and challenge your child. For children six and up the Perplexus will be hard to put down. Kids four and up will be entertained by the Tag Map Pack an interactive way to teach children about geography and map skills.

Finally...Congratulations to Sarah W. the winner of last week's Oxo Tots giveaway!

Look for the Macaroni Kid newsletter in your inbox on Wednesday next week.

Have a great week!

Once you have mastered a level you can try to beat your best time or someone else.  But masting ...

Tag Interactive Maps

I am a big fan of LeapFrog and their wide array of educational toys.  My children learned how to use the computer at an early age and love gadgets just like their Dad. So as their mom and the primary shopper in the family I try to look for gadgets that incorporate learning.  We all love the LeapFrog Tag Reading System which is recommended for ages 4-8 but even my 3 year old can manage it.

The Tag Reader says the words of a story as your child touches the ...

Of course my 3 year old daughter could not stop talking about the shows when she found out we were going and I had no doubt she would enjoy the shows.  My son on the other hand was not an enthusiastic attendee.

“Pinkalicious” is in ...
