December Countdown

Hanukkah events have come to an end, but there are still lots of fun holiday events to come!

Snow flurries fell for the first time this week much to the delight of my children.  They are really looking forward to the first big snow fall.  They are also excited to bake cookies, do some holiday crafts and see Santa at Macy's.

There are so many wonderful family friendly events in this week's newsletter to keep your kiddies busy all week especially throughout the weekend. Now that the cold weather has set in there are some great options for entertaining the kids indoors. If you are planning a trip to see Santa visit a child grows in brooklyn's 'Where to See Santa in New York City and Brooklyn 2010.'  One place you can find him is at the World Financial Center Winter Garden starting at 10am all weekend.  If you want to take in a show The New York Pops will perform 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!' at Carnegie Hall and TribecaPAC will put on a production of Swimmy, Fredrick & Inch by Inch both on Saturday. Sunday head to the Annual Santa Rescue at the New York City Fire Museum or enjoy a delicious Lunch with Frosty at the McBurney Y.  If you want to bundle up and get outside The Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Gardens it is definitely worth a trip to the Bronx (it is best to buy your tickets in advance).

Congratulations to last week's winners. Suzan J will be going to see ImaginOcean and Lisa A. is getting the Cradle Rocks CD.  Don't miss this week's exciting Family Photo Session giveaway from Brittany Ostrov Photography!

Happy Holidays!

Macaroni Holiday Lessons

There will inevitable be that day, that your child comes home all up in arms about how this person at school has so much more than they do.

Why can I have that, go there, do that, buy this.  I want more.....more, more, more.  Yes, you are correct; jealousy has reared its ugly head.

Male or female, young or old, we all get bitten by the jealousy bug at some point.  Not only is it common, it's human.  As an adult I have become jealous from time to ...

Nutcracker for Beginners

New York Theatre Ballet's Production is Short in Length, Long on Dazzle

Far be it from me to knock traditional versions of "The Nutcracker". But for the littlest audiences, the holiday classic can be a bit too much sugarplum to digest. For the past 26 years, the New York Theatre Ballet has been delighting children with its own take on the tale  – a one-hour confection whipped up for tots (and with tickets between $34 to $39 apiece, the prices are easier to swallow as well).

14 professional dancers and 40 young ballet students gracefully and energetically share the oft-told story of Clara ...
