Giveaways, Crafts and Holiday Happenings

My apartment smelled delicious this week from all of the holiday baking we have been doing. But when we aren't cooking we found a wonderful, natural way to keep the house smelling like the holidays (with far fewer calories). See the "All Natural Homemade Holiday Scents!" article to find out how.

On cold mornings it is so easy to just stay in the apartment, but by mid-afternoon my kids get a bit stir crazy.  We have learned to pick out at least one activity to get us moving on a cold winters day. If you need some motivation, make plans to meet friends at the Hester Street Fair or Little Italy's East Meets West Parade, take your sports fans to meet the Mets at Citibank, stop by Jade's ToyBox Pop-Up Store for shopping and activities or try a Family Friendly class at the Rubin Museum.

There are two new ice skating rinks opening downtown this weekend.  A very small ice rink is opening at the W Downtown on the fifth-floor terrace.  It only holds 15 people at a time, but it is open to both the public and hotel guest from 2 to 10 pm from this Saturday through Feb 15th. It is free for those who bring skates or skate rental is $12. The Standard Hotel ice rink will not have the same views but at 3,00 square feet there is a lot more room for zipping around the ice.  Tickets will be $12 plus $3 for skate rentals and opens at 11am during the week and 10am on the weekends.

I am so excited to announce this week's giveaway: tickets to see PASTA! A Pop Ups Musical! Plus there is still one more week to enter the Photos Session contest!

Have a great week!

New Moms Support Groups starting in January

Now at City Treehouse in Chelsea and Downtown!

Being a new mom is often overwhelming and these sessions are a great way to help find your way. For six weeks, you will come together with a small, supportive group of women who live downtown to share experiences, ask questions and humorously and compassionately approach motherhood.  For Moms with babies up to 12 months only!

When I had my kids I found the babybites events a great way to meet other moms in my neighborhood, talk about being a new parent and I looked forward to the social interaction ...

All Natural Homemade Holiday Scents!

Do it yourself!

I am really sensitive to many store bought chemical fragrances, what exactly IS in those anyway?  You know how it goes~ first the strong chemical "spring fresh" smell, then the headache, then the nose itch, and finally all the allergy symptoms start to say "hello".  I am so sensitive that sometimes those fragrances trigger an asthma attack.
So...a few years ago I started this all natural holiday "simmer" in my kitchen.  Whenever I want the full effect of the holidays while trimming the tree or watching a Christmas movie ...
