Lucky L'il Darlings (LLD) was created by  Lindsay Bell and Lindsey Goyne five years ago.  Since then they have built one of the most reputable high-end, child-care services in the city.  They even took their services to the Hamptons for weekends this past summer and will return again next year.

The sitters are carefully screened as are the families to ensure a perfect match.  The sitters are well educated, energetic, experiences and have been through the FDNY CPR classes and emergency training. “What makes Lucky L’il Darlings special is the way we really become part of the families we work with.” explains Lindsay.  

I was invited to try their service and the picture above speaks for itself. In the 2.5 hours I was gone our sitter, Laurie, not only fed and bathed my children, but also created a sturdy, bat-themed rocket-ship with headlights, a license plate and room for a stuffed animal on the front platform.  As you can imagine they were asking when she was going to come back the second she walked out the door. Though our sitter had only been with LLD a couple of months she was clearly an experience babysitter and some of their sitters have been their since the company was started.

I was able to set up the appointment over email and Lindsay responded to my requests and questions promptly.  I contact LLD with my date and time well in advance, but I asked Lindsay about their ability to fulfill requests. She responded that "Last minute requests are sometimes tough, but we always do our best to place a babysitter even hours before!" This is good to know because there have been times when I have had last minute meetings come up or another sitter cancels!

There is an annual membership fee of $100 plus set hourly rates depending on the number of children.  Sitters are available on a weekly basis, as needed, overnight and as a mother’s helper or vacation accompaniment.  

Finding a trust worthy sitter is not easy and it is a terrible feeling to be out and not be totally comfortable with the person watching your child.   This is a service worth checking out and definitely tell your friends!
